Last week, over 25,000 of us filled the streets of Raleigh with red for the North Carolina Association of Educators’ Public Schools Day of Advocacy. Not only did we realize the power we hold, but the lawmakers on Jones Street did too.
Now they are the ones feeling worried and scared. They do not want the public to hear their debate over public education. They do not want our voices to be heard contradicting their changes. They certainly do not want other legislators to be heard publicly defending our public schools against their cuts.
NCAE’s statewide leadership has already put out an appeal for educators and supporters to call their legislators and voice your opposition. We’re asking you to call AND write.
Now is the time to make your voice heard. Now is the time to ask your representatives to halt this process. Now is the time to decry this defiant disregard for democracy.
Use the form below to send a letter to your NC Legislators to remind the General Assembly’s leadership about May 16 and demand that they complete this session’s budget with floor discussion of amendments. All North Carolinians deserve to be at the table for discussions about this year’s budget.
In This Together,
